00:00:00.510 Accessible design is important,
00:00:02.700 but is it the same as inclusive design?
00:00:05.670 In this video,
00:00:06.690 we'll tease apart thedifference between these two.
00:00:09.510 Web accessibility is defined
00:00:10.980 by the World Wide Web Consortium,
00:00:12.840 as, "Websites, tools, and technologies,
00:00:15.780 which are designed and developed
00:00:17.370 so that people withdisabilities can use them."
00:00:20.220 This means that people with disabilities
00:00:22.410 can equally perceive,
00:00:24.270 understand, navigate, interact with,
00:00:27.540 and contribute to theweb without barriers.
00:00:30.810 Now, UX Accessibility
00:00:32.130 is absolutely not limited to web design,
00:00:35.880 but UX Accessibility meansthat any user experience,
00:00:38.760> including physical,digital, service design,
00:00:41.790 can be experienced bypeople of all abilities.
00:00:44.880> It's also not limited
00:00:46.290 just to people with lifelong disabilities.

A few ways you can test accessibility

Tab content with keyboard

Press the Tab key to move through links, buttons, and form fields. To go back, press Shift + Tab. This helps you move around the page without a mouse.

Complete a form

Type your information into the boxes on the form. If there are checkboxes or dropdown menus, use your keyboard to select the options. When you’re done, click the submit button

What other assistive technologies are there?

We've outlined a few key assistive technologies to test with but there are many more. The following are three which people often don't consider when designing digital products.

Magnification tools

Magnification tools make text, images, and websites bigger. They help people with low vision see things more clearly.

Eye tracking tools

Eye tracking tools allow people to control a computer or device with their eyes. They help people with limited hand movement or mobility.

Voice recongition software

Voice recognition software lets people control a computer or phone by speaking. It helps people who have difficulty using a keyboard or mouse.
